Fire Rated Mezzanine Floor

A Chiltern Storage Systems installation from Jan 2003.

Customer Requirement

A new 24.5m long x 6.2m wide mezzanine floor, to be built over an existing ground floor shelving installation, without having to offload and dismantle the ground floor shelving. The new floor would be used as an additional pallet storage and picking area.

CSS Solution

By designing the mezzanine floor with cantilevered RSJ’s, and a bespoke column grid, the new 151m2 mezzanine floor could be constructed over the existing ground floor shelving layout, with the minimum amount of disruption to the customers existing picking shelving.
The mezzanine floor, the fire cladding and the lighting were completed within 8 working days.
